They are still trying to build more buildings to accommodate new shops and eating places, I wish they didn't as it is slowly engorging the beauty of the island. When I was there, the display of other countries and their specialties seemed a little out of place in that peaceful island so hopefully the display is only temporary. It is worthwhile having a portrait done by the cartoon artist there but the frame for the portrait is not worth it. ![]() The famous "shaking" kimchi rice is only worth sharing one for photo purpose but not worth for value and lunch. It is beautiful the way it is without the decorating stuff hanging from it. The trees are all time beauty and wish that the island is not too commercially decorated. The art work displayed are unique and interesting. As I am not a fan of Winter Sonata but I am surprised that they are still reaping from this drama after so many years. This island is great to go in different seasons as different seasons will produce different beautiful scenes. However, try to go on weekday as it is totally packed during weekends. Since it is relatively small, it is great to walk around it as it has great scenery. However, the bicycle is a little expensive compared to other location. It is a great island to explore on foot or on a bicycle. With hindsight we would have preferred to invest our time visiting Cheongpyeong-sa Temple in nearby Chuncheon. ![]() If you must go, I would recommend spending a night at the hotel and then trying to go for a walk in the early morning before the first ferry arrives so you can experience the island (which in spite of the lake location looks and feels like a rather ordinary urban park) in peace and quiet, because it does get very crowded and that did spoil the visit for us somewhat. We visited in "ideal" conditions -lots of snow everywhere, clear blue sky, yet I (not having seen the movie) was unimpressed, and so was my friend even though she HAD watched it and enjoyed it. ![]() There are several tourist traps, cafés, what looked like a comfortable hotel, and several tree-lined promenades which seem to be the focus of the trip for the devotees. It is a smallish, flat island in the middle of a (man-made) lake. This island may be a pilgrimage place of sorts for fans of a Korean romantic drama called Winter Sonata, which was filmed here and apparently was very popular in other Asian countries. If you have NOT watched the program, however, the place is next to pointless. My wife insist to go to nami island in this winter trip to seoul, we found there is a shuttle depart at 0930 and return by 1630 with reasonable cost Nami island in this winter was white every where a lovely places to rewind our memories for winter sonata the korean tv series Is 1 hour drive from gangnam area, after we park and buy the ticket we go by ferry crossing to the island Was very cold minus 12c and we just went straight to the bbq chicken resto, nice food and i found next to this resto near to the public toilet is an ice cream shop, very dry ice cream and i love the chocolate After lunch we continue to the iconic place the two rows of trees of the winter sonata, we did some pose for our memory It is a very interesting place to wwlk and explore the whole island, my wife felt too cold and freezing so we went home not too long in the island There were museum, shops, resto chines and korean and some sore of photo exhibition, i like this place and will be back during the autumn for different kind of scenery You must visit

So was my Summer Guide, as every bar, restaurant, haunted hotel, hot springs and hiking trail I’d planned to write about was suddenly off-limits. Now, friendly arguments aren’t uncommon here-hell, unfriendly ones aren’t either, since this ancient dive once had a “Fightin’ Pit” out front. The rest of the world may have begun gradually shutting down, but it felt like business as usual at the Portway-locals lining the bar shoulder to shoulder, gamblers feeding dollars into video lottery machines, and two old guys having a rowdy debate in the corner. It was March 14, just three days after the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic, Tom Hanks announced his diagnosis, and the NBA suspended its season. Two years ago, I was sitting in a century-old tavern on the west end of Astoria doing field research for what would’ve been the 2020 edition of Willamette Week’s Summer Guide when I realized the whole project might get scrapped. When the Nazis came to power, many of the theatre's artists were dismissed, arrested or murdered, and works by undesirable authors disappeared from the repertoire. The worst moments in the history of the Vienna State Opera were the years of the Second World War. Mahler radically changed the approach to staging and, together with the artist Alfred Roller, developed a new aesthetic for the stage, recruited new conductors and enriched the repertoire (among other things, he staged Tchaikovsky's opera Eugene Onegin). His tenure lasted 10 years and was considered one of the best years for the opera. In 1897, the famous conductor and composer Gustav Mahler became director of the Vienna Opera. The concept of the GENCON GC Policy resizing heap regions was to keep them smaller for faster GC Cycles, but we have found out that in practice the overhead of this resizing often makes GC very inefficient. Without -Xmn, the nursery region defaults to approximately 25% of the max heap size, but it is Variable and not Fixed.
